Have an old barn that’s becoming a nuisance, safety concern or just an eye sore?
Than please contact Ottawa's Capital Carpentry about our free Barn Removal service. Have your old dangerous barn removed at no expense to you. Our goal is to reuse the materials from these wonderful structures for everything from a new barn to picture frames. We recycle as much of the material as possible and every care will be taken to ensure a low impact on your property. There are no two removals that are the same, so Capital Carpentry will work with you on developing a plan that works well for both parties.
We will:
Evaluate each barn individually to determine if there is enough salvageable material to pay for the labor, machinery and shipping involved in offering this free service. All salvageable barn wood that is attached to the barn becomes our property in lieu of removing the barn at no cost to the property owner.
Completely dismantle and remove the entire barn excluding anything that is inside the barn and the foundation. Any items inside the barn are the owner’s responsibility unless other arrangements have been agreed upon.
Clean up of the entire site leaving no debris from our work. Burning unsalvageable barn wood and hauling off any non burnable barn materials. If burning of barn wood is not allowed in your area, other means of removal will be arranged. And includes raking of the site and removing all nails.
We are proud to provide this very eco-friendly way to lower your liability, property tax and home owners insurance while regaining usable land. We also save our forests through the reclaiming of old barn wood for timber framing and rustic decor in other markets. Many old barns are now at the stage of being mended and reused. However, many are moving into critical disrepair. Once the roof starts going a barns wood beams and barn board interior will quickly start to decay. The recent trend is to try to recycle the salvaged barn lumber and help save our environment for the future. Information we need before we start:
- An E-mail outlining the condition of the barn and photos of your barn. Please provide pictures from all 4 sides outside and all four sides inside as well. We also require photos of the roof (inside & out) and any second floor or other special areas of your barn.
- We need to know the size of the barn. (Length x width x height)
- Where is your barn located? We require your full address so we can locate resources in your area and view the work site.
- Your name and contact information so you can be reached.
- The measurements of the larger size beams. (length x witdh x height)
